This illustration represents the airport Giovanni Nicelli, designed and built by Felice Santabarbara and Mario Emmer in 1935 on Lido island. It is part of a series of illustrations of modern architecture in Venice made by Catherine Cordasco, to both emphasize Matita’s passion for architecture and depict a “different Venice” off the tourist paths, with Venetian buildings that are little known to the general public despite their great historical and architectural value.
